HOT INFUSION - Infuse 1 heaped teaspoon of herbs with 1 cup of boiling water. Steep for approx 3-5 minutes and strain.
COLD INFUSION - Put 1 heaped teaspoon of herbs in 1 cup of cold water, and soak for 8-10 hours, strain and slightly warm
before drinking. DECOCTION - Put 1 heaped teaspoon of herbs in 1 cup of cold water, bring to the boil, simmer for
10-15 mins (longer if the root is very hard), strain before drinking. HERB BATH - Steep approximately 200g of dried
herbs in cold water for 12 hours. Heat the infusion and strain into the bath water. Soak in it for 10-15 minutes.
SITZ BATH - Steep approximately 100g of dried herbs in cold water for 12 hours and proceed as for a full bath. Use a
tub large enough to sit in, the water should cover the kidney region. (Half fill a bath) FOMENTATION - (AKA Compress)
- Soak a cloth or towel in a herbal infusion or decoction, wring out the excess and apply as hot as possible to the effected
area FOOT BATH - Steep approximately 50g of dried herbs in a bucket with cold water for 12 hours and proceed as for a full
bath. Bathe the feet for about 20 mins. POULTICE - In a saucepan bring water to the boil, hang into it a sieve
containing fresh or dried herbs, cover and steam for a few minutes. Spread the softened herbs on a cloth and place on
the effected area. Cover the compress with a woollen cloth and leave on for approx. 2 hours. INHALATION -
Put 50g of dried herbs in a bowl or saucepan. Pour 1 litre of boiling water over the herbs. Cover your head with a towel
and hand your head over the bowl or saucepan, trapping the steam under the towel. Inhale the steam for 20-30 mins.
